Georgia Leg

Arrive in Georgia — the gateway to Europe, home to ancient monasteries, dramatic caves and spectacular mountain landscapes. After landing, check into our hotel and settle into the rhythm of Tbilisi. In the evening, we spend time at a lively Tbilisi Folk Dance Dinner, our first taste of Georgia’s culture, flavours and warm hospitality.

Begin the day with a scenic coach ride to Bodbe Monastery, a serene pilgrimage site surrounded by peaceful gardens and historic charm. From there, stop at Kardenakhi Estate for a relaxed wine-tasting session, sampling local wines and the iconic Georgian chacha. Return to Tbilisi for a guided Old Town Walking Tour, wandering past Metekhi Church, the Sulfur Bathhouses, Meidan Square, and the lively Shardeni Street. Continue on to cross the modern Bridge of Peace, admire the quirky Gabriadze Clock Tower, and visit the historic Anchiskhati Basilica, soaking in the old-world atmosphere. In the evening, return to the hotel to unwind and prepare for the next day’s drive.

The road trip officially begins as we cruise towards the striking Chronicle of Georgia, famous for its 16 towering columns depicting biblical scenes and Georgian history. From here, we drive through rolling hills to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital, and explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the hilltop Jvari Monastery and the majestic Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. The self-drive adventure continues to Ananuri Fortress, a 16th-century stronghold overlooking the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir, an ideal spot for photos. As the day winds down, we ascend to Gudauri and check into our hotel for an overnight stay.

Begin a scenic drive to Gudauri Viewpoint, where sweeping panoramas of Devil’s Valley and the Caucasus unfold beneath us. From there, descend into Stepantsminda along winding mountain roads, arriving at the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, perfectly framed against the majestic Mt. Kazbegi. Continue the journey through rugged 4×4 tracks towards Dariali Gorge, hike to the stunning Gveleti Waterfall, and pause at the serene Dariali Monastery. Return to your stay as the sun sets, ready to recharge for the next day’s adventure.

Begin the westward drive to Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave city carved into cliffs, echoing stories from millennia past. Continue to Gori, Stalin’s birthplace, and explore the intriguing Stalin Museum. By evening, arrive in Kutaisi, one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, and check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Take a short drive to Okatse Canyon and hike a forest trail to its iconic suspension bridge, walking the dramatic hanging walkway above cliffs and waterfalls and ending at a thrilling glass observation deck. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic drive into the Svaneti mountains, where glacial rivers, medieval watchtowers, and snow-dusted peaks lead you to Mestia. Upon arrival in Mestia, retire for the night in your cozy accommodation.

Hop into 4×4 vehicles for a rugged drive to Ushguli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with sweeping alpine views situated on the foothills of Mt. Shkhara, Georgia’s highest peak. Continue the off-road adventure deeper into the wilderness, reaching Shkhara Base Camp for an unforgettable mountain experience. By evening, return to Mestia and unwind at your cozy stay, reflecting on a day of epic highland adventure.

Bid farewell to the highlands and drive south from Svaneti, as rugged mountains gradually give way to softer landscapes. Stop at Enguri Dam, the world’s second-highest arch dam, a striking feat of engineering set against a dramatic backdrop. Visit the Sisa Tura Ethno-village and immerse yourself in the Mingrelian traditions of this charming hamlet. Continue to the Black Sea coast, arriving in vibrant Batumi, and celebrate the journey with a warm farewell dinner.

Enjoy a slow, leisurely morning in Batumi, soaking in the sea breeze and coastal charm. Check out of the hotel and head to the airport as per individual flight schedules.
